Still Water 05:42
Still water runs deep deeper than what’s inside me I call from the depths of my soul, Hoping that I can let go This struggle I’ve carried through life And the sins of an old time Owned by a love hurt in past lives I’ll do better next time I’ll keep my cool and my calm Unwavering I’m wandering Headlong I’ll walk through The rain storm Let it come For the rain brings thunder and thunder means lighting And lightning is what we’re made of And lord knows I need some Lord knows I need one Lord knows you need some Somewhere we are one Still water runs deep And Deeper in you I can see I’m called to the depths of your soul Knowing I’ll never let go I’ll keep my cool and my calm Unwavering I’m wandering Headlong We’ll walk through The rain storm Let it come For the rain brings thunder and thunder means lighting And lightning is what we’re made of And lord knows you need some Lord knows we need some Lord knows you need one Somewhere we are one Somewhere we are one Somewhere we are one Somewhere we are one Still water runs deep Deeper than what’s behind me I call from the depths of my soul Knowing I’ll never let go ⚡️

Eli, the barrow boy Of the old town Sells coal and marigolds And he cries out All down the day Below the tamaracks He is crying: "Corn cobs and candle wax for the buying!" All down the day "Would I could afford to buy my love a fine robe Made of gold and silk Arabian thread! But she is dead and gone and lying in a pine grove And I must push my barrow all the day And I must push my barrow all the day" Eli, the barrow boy When they found him Dressed all in corduroy He had drowned in The river down the way They laid his body down in a church yard But still when the moon is out With his push cart He calls down the day "Would I could afford to buy my love a fine gown Made of gold and silk Arabian thread! But I am dead and gone and lying in a church ground And still I push my barrow all the day Still I push my barrow all the day"

Unleashed 06:08
Let’s take a drive out to the ocean Let’s take a walk into the sea Let’s take a razor to the underside of everything we’ve ever known and watch it bleed Let’s find a dream between the stars babe Let’s fall asleep beneath the waves Let’s float above the wretched underside of everything we’ve ever known and fly away Destruction’s keeper it’s locked inside your soul With my redeemer of words Fires burning deeper will call your fury home Unleashed, your heart knows love is OWN’d Let’s find ourselves up on a mountain Or out across the desert plains And let the wolf rip out the underside of everything you’ve ever known to bring you pain Destruction’s keeper it’s locked inside your soul With my destroyer of worlds That fire burns deeper and calls your fury home Unleashed, your heart knows love is OWN’d A terror tried to cross the ocean It tried to live within a lie We let it sink below the underside of everything that ever was and watched it die Salvation’s seeker out through this world you’ll roam Consumed by what may never be But I’m your future, you’ll see how you can grow Beyond what’s left by ruined kings We’ll sail across a secret ocean And Dive into the secrets that it keeps We’ll venture out beyond the underside of everything that ever was and be released Let’s find a dream between the stars babe Let’s fall asleep beneath the waves Let’s float above the wretched underside of everything we’ve ever known and fly away..... .🌊

Shadow 08:10
As I walk through the valley of the shadow of you I find myself torn down broken battered and blue Wish there were something I could do to get to where I once was Now there were times when I was so alone But none of them ever felt quite this cold As I walk through the valley of the shadow alone So alone I used to run wild, Roamin’ free Nobody there to wonder worry hate or care for me It was there I made a home in lonely Moon Goddess well you steal my faith Build me a path to your beauty and a bridge to grace I’ll burn it down to embers baby And let ruin take my place Let it take my place Let ruin take my place Did you find Christ lying in the water while all I found was the devil in your soul I felt the sting burn and hit me hard As you closed your eyes and let me go Imperfect as I ever was Just a wolf without a moon Calling to you Lookin for some truth Just looking for the truth As I walk through the valley of the shadow of you I find myself wishin I could be something new Like a better man who ain’t all lost in once was Without those memories so vivid and clear And all the lost tragedies that I hold dear Maybe then I’ll find a way to find my way to wisdom And let loose of all my fears Let loose my fears Let loose of all my fears Did you find Christ lying in the water? All I found was the devil in your soul I felt the sting burn and hit me hard As you closed your eyes and let me go Imperfect as I ever was Just a wolf without a moon Moving through you Lookin for some truth Just looking for some truth Just looking for some truth Just looking for the truth I used to run wild, Roamin’ free Nobody there to wonder worry hate or care for me It was there I made a home in lonely Moon Goddess well you still my faith Build me a path to your beauty and a bridge to grace I’ll burn you down to embers baby And let ruin take my place Let it take my place Let ruin take my place Imperfect as I ever was Just a wolf without a moon Calling to you Just lookin for some truth Just looking for the truth Just looking for the truth Just looking for the truth There’s evil in your bloodline Makes you wicked for a lifetime It’s playing tricks on my mind As you’re making love to me There’s evil in your bloodline Makes you wicked for a lifetime It’s playing tricks on my mind As you’re making love to me There’s evil in your bloodline There’s evil in your bloodline As I walk through the valley of the shadow of you I find myself torn down broken battered and blue Wish there were something I could do to get to where I once was There were times when I was so alone But none of them ever felt quite this cold As I walk through the valley of the shadow alone So alone And in my darkness, you’re merely a ghost Despite your brilliance, a glimmer at most And in my nightmares you ruled all the land Oh my Destroyer of Worlds Please let me let go of your long fingered hands 🐺

about

These are home demo recordings of the first 3 songs written by me after undergoing surgeries and radiation treatment for throat cancer in late 2019. The songs were written in the first few months of 2020 while I was recovering, and learning how to swallow, speak, and eventually sing again. I also recorded a cover of "Eli the Barrow Boy" by The Decemberists. This song has been regularly included in my longer sets since 2010, and I really felt that it fit well with the theme presented by my original songs on Lobo Sin Luna. I know it's been a hard year on all of us in the music community, and so I just wanted to share these rough demo versions with all of you to show that we have not all been completely defeated. It's a slow start, but I'm still here, and I'm still trying. Hopefully the next year will be a little easier, and allow for some time in the studio to get these songs polished up and released along with many others for the full length LP.
Cheers, and much love to you all, Joshua.
